De mi mayor consideración:

Tengo el agrado de dirigirme a Ud. con el fin de hacerle llegar nuestra preocupación por la situación del comunicador mapuche Pascual Pichún Collonao de 27 años de edad, quien está detenido desde el día 26 de febrero de 2010 y se encuentra actualmente en la cárcel de Traiguén. Pascual se encontraba con residencia temporaria en la Argentina y con una solicitud de refugio político. Como comunicador participaba de actividades en defensa de los derechos de los pueblos indígenas y cursaba como alumno de cuarto año de la Facultad de Periodismo de la Universidad Nacional de la Plata (UNLP – Argentina).
Pascual fue considerado prófugo de la Justicia chilena desde 2003, su hermano y su padre también fueron judicializados, Pascual Pichún (padre) fue condenado por la Ley anti terrorista, la misma que se encuentra cuestionada porque ha sido aplicada en el contexto de reivindicación territorial mapuche. Además de ser cuestionada por organismos de Derechos Humanos y en particular por Naciones Unidas.
Señor Presidente, desde FILL IN NAME/ORGANISATION le solicitamos que arbitre los medios necesarios para revertir esta situación judicial contra Pascual Pichún y reparar así parte el daño causado a Pascual y su familia.
Asimismo queremos expresarle nuestra preocupación sobre la situación de lo que consideramos presos políticos del estado de Chile, comuneros mapuches acusados bajo montajes judiciales que hoy suman mas de 150 personas entre prisioneros y procesados, esperando resolución de la justicia.
Esperamos tenga a bien resolver positivamente esta situación, para que Pascual recuperare su libertad que nos preocupa a diversas instituciones nacionales e internacionales.
Con la convicción de que se hará justicia.

I am pleased to write to you in order to express my concern about the situation of the 27-year-old Mapuche communicator Pascual Pichún Collonao, who was detained on February 26, 2010 and is currently being held in the prison of Traiguén. Pascual had a temporary residence permit in Argentina and an application for political asylum. As a communicator, he was involved in activities in defense of indigenous peoples´ rights and was studying the fourth year of the School of Journalism at the National University of La Plata (UNLP - Argentina).
Pascual was considered a fugitive of Chilean justice since 2003. His brother and his father were also judicialized.

Pascual Pichún (father) was convicted under the anti-terrorism law, which is questioned because it has been applied in the context of Mapuche land claims. The anti-terrorism law is being questioned by human rights organizations and particularly by the United Nations.

Mr President, as NAME/ORGANIZATION we ask that you use the necessary means to revert the judicialization of Pascual Pichún´s situation and in this way repair part of the damage caused to Pascual and his family.

We also wish to express our concern about the situation of what we consider political prisoners of the Chilean State; more than 150 members of Mapuche communities, prisoners and accused, have been set up and accused under this law, and are awaiting justice.

We hope you will positively resolve this situation, so that Pascual regains his freedom, something that concerns national and international institutions.
